My 9 Best tips on how to find an IT job
Write a banging CV (and short punchy cover letter)….something that sells you & a document that you can be proud of
Get your professional brand ie LinkedIn profile up to scratch & tidy up public viewing social media
Follow up on job applications….CALL the company or IT Recruiter and ask if: A) They’ve received your CV B) What is the process? C) And when can I expect to hear about an interview ALL in your politest, charming phone manner this can make you stand out from the other 100+ CV’s they’ve received
Look good - dress appropriately, get those new shoes, shirt or go to the hairdressers - look great > feel great…
Research each job opportunity and prepare killer questions at the end of your meeting
Network in your specific area of IT - be a life learner and be up to speed in your field of expertise & make contacts…Do you want to become an expert in your field? The best in your industry? Attend Meet-ups, seminars & conferences - GO for it
Prepare for your meeting - know exactly where you’re going on the day….i.e do a drive-by in the weekend or a few days before & know where you’ll be parking and GET THEIR ON TIME….10 minutes before…any more than that then take a walk to calm the nerves
Smile, be your friendly self and always keep going…even if you discover it might NOT be the right role - keep positive and use every meeting as a networking opportunity to make a great impression, sometimes a slightly different role will come up with them & they’ll know who to get in touch with - YOU
Your reputation is everything…be polite, professional and positive - ENJOY IT
