We wish you all the best with NZ going into a State of Emergency & Lockdown from 11.59pm Wednesday 25th March for Covid-19 & we want to acknowledge the ‘essential services’ & front line workers who are doing a tireless job.

We know that everyone is affected and wish you all the best with your changes happening now in Christchurch, across New Zealand & around the globe - stay safe :-)

A few things that may help you in these times of change:

NZ Government assistance for companies, freelancers & contractors. This is a simple one pager that goes on trust (no figures required but auditable later) that you have experienced a 30% downturn in business from this time last year (any month from Jan to June 2020). Check out:  https://services.workandincome.govt.nz/ess/employer_applications/new APPLY NOW if you haven’t already or ask your accountant

Remote working tools. There’s a range of free video tools including: Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, GoToMeeting, Bluejeans etc but you’re probably all over these by now.

Useful Tips on self isolation from astronaut Chris Hadfield click here

Check out a new mindfulness app to help you get through the next 4 weeks+ from local Christchurch entrepreneur Kris Herbert (Kingswood skis / Creative Agent) she’s started the Wanderble App click here: https://wanderble.com/

Home schooling. Here’s some links which you might find helpful with the wee cubs at home on the Sunstone FB page please click here & scroll down: https://www.facebook.com/sunstonetalent/

So what is the IT market doing? It’s quite early to say but we have seen movement already:

***Kiwis returning from overseas very quickly before the world shut down & flights starting to be cancelled.

***Companies who have offers out to candidates overseas or in other cities that are starting new jobs are able to on-board remotely…they can then move to Christchurch when the time is right which is a great solution

***Industries are changing, we are seeing a re-shuffle of people & types of roles and there’s some urgent IT projects & sectors that are busy
